Nummular headaches

My Nummular headaches began in 2011 after taking Pravastatin;
I stopped taking the Pravastatin but that did not help.
My headaches occur an average of six days a week,
and can last from one hour to 48 hours;
8 to 12 is common, they often stop at night while I am sleeping.
The pain varies, usually moderate;
the more severe episodes make it hard to concentrate or remember.
Prednisone will not stop an existing headache,
but will prevent new headaches from developing.
Nothing else had any effect on my headaches.

Weather or barometric pressure may have some influence.
Overeathing or eating and then napping seems to be a trigger,
but I have fasted for 12 hours for a blood test
and then got a headache before eating.
I asked my self: 'How can I purposely trigger a headache
before seeing a doctor ?', but I never figured out an answer.

I went to 5 neurologists but they all had migraine on the brain
and just threw migraine drugs at me, which had bad side effects.
Neurologist #6 was at Duke University in North Carolina,
I suspect that he was still in training.
He read a lot of non-applicable questions off of a computer screen;
I kept interrupting him to tell him my observations.
Finally he left the room for a long time and returned with neurologist #7
who finally gave me a name: Nummular headaches, no cure, bye !

Over the years I have accumulated various information:
- If a neurologist sees 400 headaches, only one of them will be a Nummular headache.
- Botox was rumored to help in 20% of the cases,
I tried it twice with two different doctors and in two different places, no help.
Nummular headaches occur between the skull bone and the scalp,
not in the brain.

From online:
"Epidemiologically, a nummular headache is considered very rare.
It was first described in 2002,
and since then a few hundred cases have been described in the literature.
According to one center estimate,
there were 0.25% consultations made for a nummular headache
out of all the headache consultations.Aug 14, 2023"

I am currently searching for a doctor who will perform the surgery below.
I have not seen anywhere online that describes why the pain is where:
on my head it occurs on the right side at the junction of two of the
bone plates on my head, there is a depression at that spot.

Google: Nummular headache surgery 20250914

" Nummular headache surgery involves the targeted surgical
deactivation of small nerves around a specific,
round area of pain on the scalp.

The procedure identifies a pain trigger point,
often a small artery with associated nerves,
and removes the offending nerves or cauterizes the vessel
under local anesthesia.

This is a treatment for nummular headaches
that have not responded to other therapies
and aims to provide long-lasting pain relief
by deactivating the trigger point,
similar to the long-term effects of nerve blocks.

Nummular Headache is a chronic headache characterized
by a small, round or elliptical area of pain on the head.
The pain can originate anywhere on the scalp.
It is often associated with a local trigger point,
 such as a blood vessel.

The Surgical Procedure
- Trigger point identification: Patients point to the
painful area, and a Doppler ultrasound may be used
to locate a nearby vessel or nerve.
- Anesthesia: Local anesthesia is injected into the marked
  area.
- Incision and dissection: A small incision is made,
and the surgeon identifies the vessel
and associated small nerves within the trigger point.
- Treatment: The involved segment of the artery is removed
(arterectomy) and/or the associated nerves are removed.
Larger arteries may require ligation (tying them off).
- Minimally invasive surgery:
The procedure is typically minimally invasive
and can be done as an office procedure."

Below website seems to mix several things together,
do a search on 'nummular':
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6952133/

I wonder if the Aztecs that had holes drilled in their heads had Nummular headaches,
since Nummular headaches have such a specific location.

If anyone has found some way to get relief from Nummular Headaches,
I would appreciate an email.
